History of The South Of England Championships

The South Of England Championships is a historical event that was previously run by Mary Richardson at the Lodden Valley Leisure Centre in Reading for many years.

It has always been run around the Easter period, Mary’s love of dance and children was second to none. She started a tradition of giving an Easter Egg to all juvenile and junior participants of the competition. She introduced two panels of high quality Adjudicators in Ballroom and Latin.

The event has grown from strength to strength over the years. Since 2022 Alex Ivanets and Lisa Bellinger-Ivanets took over the organisation and presented The South of England Championships in Oxford at the beautiful Oxford Town Hall. With Competitors travelling from all over the World to Oxford, the competition had a huge success. Alex and Lisa will do their best to maintain and develop the history of the South of England Championships in years to come as well as putting their own artistic flare to it.

Goal of the Event

We want to organize a good competition for everyone with a beautiful wooden sprung floor, great music and top quality adjudicators. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the South of England Championships.
